Profile page

My research is comparative in nature because it investigates how international, European and national legal systems interact. To identify fissures and fractures in legal systems, various methods can be useful. I have, amongst others, conducted surveys, analysis of documents and discourse, (focus group) interviews, gendered institutional analysis, historical analysis and case study research. I like to combine such methods with theoretical tools used in international studies and political economy to account for political dynamics at play. It might also be interesting to know that my research has benefitted from institutionalised ethical reviews in the UK and Belgium.

In Leiden, I am responsible for the planning of the series Empirical Methods in Legal Research. You can always contact me.
